At Farnborough International Airshow 2024, Avio signed two important partnerships: one with Raytheon, a RTX division (one of the world leaders in the missile sector) and one with the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center (DEVCOM AvMC), part of the US Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command.
In particular, the former is an industrial agreement to start the development and maturation of new solid-propellant engine solutions to meet the demand not only of the US Defence, but also of international customers. At the moment, no further details were disclosed. However, what emerges from the press releases from the two companies is that the agreement lays the foundations for the technical and 'engineering' work necessary to start production of such engines.
As far as the partnership with the US Army is concerned, the contract was signed in order to develop and produce a new prototype of a solid-propellant propeller for surface-to-air applications. Again, at the moment, there are no details on what US Army weapon system will receive a new propeller.
