On July 24th, Hungary's Defense Minister, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, announced that the first Hungarian-made LYNX KF-41 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) has rolled out of the production site in Zalaegerszeg, in the southwest of the country.
Hungary ordered a total of 218 vehicles through a contract worth more than 2 billion euros, signed with Rheinmetall in 2020.
The agreement also includes 9 BUFFALO armored recovery vehicles as well as additional products and services such as simulators, education and training. As of today, and in line with the schedule, Budapest is receiving the first batch of 46 vehicles - the first of which was delivered in October 2022 - all of them produced in Germany.
From December 2023, in-house production of the remaining 172 began, including the example delivered yesterday.
