Rheinmetall opens a 30mm ammunition production facility in Hungary 31/07/2024 | Editorial Team

On July 29, the Rheinmetall productionsite in Várpalota (Veszprém), Hungary, was inaugurated.

The facility specializes in the production of 30 mm ammunition for the LYNX KF-41 infantry fighting vehicles that will be manufactured in Hungary, the first example of which left the Zalaegerszeg production plant just last week.

The Várpalota manufacturing facility will be operational from October 2024; at a later stage, apparently from 2026, an expansion of the site's capacities is planned. In particular, the production site will be enabled to produce other types of ammunition, including 155-mm artillery shells for the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer and 120-mm ammunition for the MBT LEOPARD 2 and its potential successor, the PANTHER KF-51.
