Renk and Leonardo sign strategic MoU for I-MBT and AICS 19/12/2024 | Eugenio Po

Renk Group AG has announced that Renk Italia Srl (acting on behalf of Renk GmbH and Horstman UK) and Leonardo have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The aim of this agreement is to build up industrial and technological collaboration in the field of tracked vehicles and seems to be mainly oriented towards the 2 new EI mega-programmes I-MBT and A2CS/AICS. In this context, Renk Italia Srl will interact closely with Leonardo, in particular with the Defence Systems Business Unit of Leonardo's Electronics Division (i.e. essentially the former Oto Melara).

In fact, Renk Italia Srl is based at Leonardo's industrial site in La Spezia. This agreement aims to define a roadmap for a joint contribution to the Italian programmes for the new Battle Tank (MBT) and the new Infantry Combat Tracked Vehicle (I-MTB and A2CS/AICS programmes).

The technological and industrial synergies between Renk and Leonardo represent a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions designed for tracked vehicles. Indeed, Renk is an absolute specialist in the field of gearboxes/transmissions and, with Horstmann, also in suspensions for tracked and armoured vehicles.
