ELT Group, the development of an EW centre for the Qatar Armed Forces beings 20/12/2024 | CAROLINA PAIZS

On December 18, on Qatar's National Day celebrations, ELT Group formalised an agreement with the Qatar Armed Forces to build an advanced Unified Electronic Warfare (EW) Centre.

The new centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and will enhance the capabilities of the Doha Armed Forces, promoting their modernisation and effectiveness in view of increasingly complex and multi-domain operational scenarios.

The agreement represents the first step in an ambitious programme of strategic cooperation between ELT Group and Qatar, which was born on the sidelines of the latest Doha Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2024).

During the event, the 2 parties signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) that states their common will to collaborate on major initiatives in the field of Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) . The signing of the LoI took place in the presence of Major General Jassim Al-Mannai, Commander of the Qatar Emiri Air Force, and Domitilla Benigni, Managing Director and COO of ELT Group, and marked a crucial moment in the strengthening of bilateral ties between the company and the Doha Government. ELT Group is, in fact, already active in Qatar since 2017 with a sales office, and over the years has consolidated its presence in the country - and in the region - providing support to numerous national programmes, thanks to a portfolio of highly specialised solutions in the EMSO domain.

At the moment, no further details have been released regarding the realisation of the Unified EW Centre and the technologies with which it will be equipped. However, as mentioned above, the above-mentioned contract would represent ‘Phase I’ of a broader programme, articulated in several initiatives and projects.
