Trump in Saudi Arabia: $142 billion of US armaments for the Kingdom. Goodbye Eurofighter? 14/05/2025 | Editorial Team

President Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia, still ongoing as we write, is of enormous economic and political-strategic importance.

According to a statement released by the White House a few minutes ago, the two countries have signed several agreements worth hundreds of billions of dollars in sectors ranging from AI to energy and infrastructure, including defence.

In terms of defence, this is said to be the largest agreement ever, worth a total of $142 billion, covering five areas: Aeronautics and Space, Air and Missile Defence, Maritime and Coastal Security, Border Security and Land Forces Modernisation, Information and Communications System Upgrades.

Further details have not been released, but the mega package – which will have to be formalised in industrial agreements and FMS (Foreign Military Sales) cases – could include the supply of F-15 EX fighter jets, and more. Our sources have long confirmed that the prospect of selling the F-35 is also more than concrete. However, this prospect could definitively scupper the sale of the famous second batch of Eurofighter TYPHOONs to the Kingdom, which would then derail Saudi Arabia's entry into the GCAP.

As for air defence, we will see whether additional THAAD batteries will be purchased, in addition to the seven already ordered, and PATRIOT PAC-3 batteries.
