In the presence of Putin and Kim Jong Un (and his very evil and powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong), special guests of Supreme Leader Xi Jinping, a grand military parade was held today in Beijing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Also present, among others, is the Turkish Foreign Minister (and former head of Ankara's intelligence service), Hakan Fidan, who arrived in Beijing accompanied by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The parade is an opportunity to show the world the military capabilities that China has greatly strengthened over the last 15 years. This ‘great leap forward’ is probably unprecedented in history and has propelled Beijing to the top of the world power rankings.
Among the new additions are the new-generation DF-61 intercontinental ballistic missile, based on a mobile launcher, an updated variant of the DF-5 – DF-5C intercontinental ballistic missile, equipped with 10-12 reentry warheads, and the DF-31 – DF-31BJ, based on silos – not to mention the submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile JL-3 (the latter already widely operational) and the new long-range missile with nuclear capability, launchable from aircraft, JL-1 . In short, the message to the US is very clear.
Also on display are countless drones, some newer than others, including the large autonomous underwater drone AJX002 – quantity, now more than ever, becomes a quality in itself (and the West is not equipped to deal with such quantities); drones that, guided by AI, are intended to strike the first blow in a hypothetical scenario of invasion of Taiwan. And then there are various types of directed energy weapons (lasers) and the new hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile, powerd by scramjet propulsion, the YJ-19.
The parade, therefore, concludes the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) summit and underscores China's role as leader of the so-called Global South, which no longer accepts the hegemony of the West and the US and wants to renegotiate the rules of global governance.
