According to a press release issued by the Danish Ministry of Defence, Denmark will acquire the Franco-Italian SAMP/T air defence system. FW Mag has learned that this will most likely be the SAMP/T NG version.

As part of the strengthening of the Danish Armed Forces’ air defence component (with the Air Defence Wing established in March 2025), Copenhagen is preparing to invest 58 billion kroner – about €7.8 billion – for the procurement of 8 long- and medium-range air defence batteries.

For long-range coverage, the decision has already been made in favour of the SAMP/T, while the choice for medium-range systems has not yet been defined, with NASAMS, IRIS-T, and VL MICA still competing.
