Today, Monday, October 6, Sweden signed a contract for the acquisition of 4 C-390 tactical transport aircraft from the Brazilian company Embraer, with an option for 7 more aircraft.

The Scandinavian country will participate in the joint procurement program with Austria and the Netherlands, which will acquire 4 and 5 aircraft, respectively.

The contract signing ceremony took place at the Uppsala air base, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Swedish Air Force, Major General Jonas Wikman, and Stockholm's Minister of Defense, Pal Jonson, who emphasized that the choice of the C-390 MILLENNIUM will increase operational efficiency and interoperability with European allies operating the Brazilian aircraft, with benefits in terms of logistical support and training.

It should be noted that the aircraft is already in service with the Air Forces of Brazil (since 2019), Portugal (2023), and Hungary (2024), and has been selected by 8 other countries (Austria, South Korea, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, plus one unspecified country).
