Rheinmetall has announced that it has increased its production of HERO loitering munitions, systems that the German company manufactures as part of a collaboration with the Israeli company UVision Air.
A few months ago, Rheinmetall completed a modern production facility for the assembly, testing, warhead production and integration of HERO munitions. The facility, which is now operating at full capacity, is managed by RWM Italia (one of Rheinmetall's Italian subsidiaries) and is divided between two sites in Sardinia, Musei and Domusnovas. In Musei, the inert and electronic components are assembled and tested, while in Domusnovas, the warheads are produced and integrated.
Rheinmetall's order book for HERO amounts to over €200 million and includes the delivery of these loitering munitions to eight different European countries (NATO and non-NATO). Rheinmetall's current product range includes the small HERO 30 (for infantry), the medium HERO 120 (for precision strikes against armoured vehicles and fixed installations) and the medium/long-range HERO 400 (for precision strikes against fortified positions).
