On 9 October, Turkey’s Baykar KIZILELMA unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV)/loyal wingman conducted its first live ammunition release test, successfully launching Roketsan’s TEBER-82 and Aselsan’s TOLUN precision-guided munitions. Both weapons accurately struck their designated targets.
The TEBER-82 is a precision guidance kit designed for Mk-82 general-purpose bombs, integrating GPS/INS navigation and a semi-active laser (SAL) seeker. The TOLUN, instead, is a glide bomb featuring folding “diamond” wings that deploy after release, coupled with INS/GPS guidance for extended-range precision strikes.
The test, documented by a Baykar AKINCI UAV, marks a major milestone for the Turkish defence industry, confirming its ability to field an indigenously developed and fully integrated armed UCAV/wingman system—from platform to payload—within a single national industrial ecosystem.
