Turkey has signed an agreement with the United Kingdom worth £8 billion for the purchase of 20 new Eurofighter TYPHOON.
The deal was formalized during a visit by British Prime Minister Starmer to Turkey and a meeting with President Erdogan.
The agreement is also linked to a possible acquisition by Ankara of additional second-hand TYPHOONs from Oman and Qatar (probably 12 aircraft each), as mentioned by Erdogan himself, which would form an initial training and logistics core. Furthermore, Turkish pilots have been training on Qatari TYPHOONs for some time.
If Qatari TYPHOONs are transferred to Turkey, Qatar will probably acquire new aircraft as replacements.
