Sweden has ordered further MBDA CAMM missiles 21/11/2025 | Gabriele Molinelli

MBDA has signed a contract amendment with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration - FMV (Försvarets MaterielVerk) - to enable follow-on deliveries of the Common Anti-air Modular Missiles (CAMM). This builds on the selection of the missile in 2023 to equip the VISBY-class stealth corvettes.

CAMM (SEA CEPTOR for the Royal Navy) is a local area air defence missile, radar guided but derived from the air to air ASRAAM. Its compact dimensions and cold-launch feature make it particularly easy to integrate even on compact ships such as the VISBY.

CAMM is ejected “cold” from its canister by high pressure air that projects the missile some 100 feet into the air before the rocket motor ignites. CAMM, and its slightly enlarged Extended Range (ER) variant with Avio rocket motor, developed cooperatively by MBDA UK and MBDA Italy, have already been sold to UK, Italy, Poland, Brasil, Pakistan and Canada and lastly Sweden. All of these nations have adopted CAMM for use on ships, with UK, Italy and Poland also using it ashore for ground based air defence.  The quantities of missiles for Sweden have not been disclosed.
